Microcrystalline wax Microcrystalline waxes are fully refined petroleum waxes derived from the distillate extract of solid hydrocarbons, predominantly paraffinic in nature.
Polythene A wax Derived from polyethene with a low molecular weight. It is supplied in the form of a white, hard, tough crystalline powder with a melting point of 98 to 108°C. It has excellent solvent binding capacity and owing to its crystalline structure gives rise to smooth, opaque pastes with great stability to heat. It is insoluble or only sparingly soluble at room temperature in conventional organic solvents.
